Women's Recovery Group
“I have a desire to see women set free.”
Candace Crittenden as we’ve know her, but McArthur, as we love to say now, is starting up a Group Life group this semester that most girls might feel led to join. Candace growing up, didn’t have much of an “enjoyable” childhood, and starting at the age 13 she found her self struggling with an eating disorder, which became a real struggle her Sophomore year of College. This eating disorder lasted another 2 ½ years until she found strength in Jesus to over come this battle. Which honestly is so comforting because she trusted and believed in God and knew that through him, and giving this battle up to him, that she could, and DID, over come this eating disorder. She found healing in Jesus. A verse she clung to during this time is Isaiah 61:1-4,
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion-to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”
This Recovery group that she is leading this semester are for those who are dealing with, or going through, an addiction of some sort and are wanting to be SET FREE from it. As women we are constantly bottled down with emotions, how we come off to others, how we look, are we too fat, too skinny. I mean I’m surprised our minds haven’t exploded already with how much we over think things.
“I believe our life is a journey of recovery”
